Thinking of spring gardens....and threadwork on teacups~

Opening up my sewing room early this morning~Its COLD and raining hard outside~sounds like a perfect day for sewing!

These fabrics are very very sweet~ I am thinking of the threadwork that each little framed print deserves....

On my design wall is a growing quilt! The bigger this quilt grows the more I want one for myself~♥

I always love to make fabric from the signed selvage~Fabric pieces that tell the story of a special quilt...

Dreaming of Spring and Summer gardens as I take a peek in a "new" book given to me by my "swedish" sister last night (along with some apple cake and a beatrix potter clock~)

Here are the beginnings of my pretty quilt for the "Relay For Life" walk which will be held in the spring and this will be raffled off to raise money for a CURE~ I will be sure and post when the raffle begins~

Yesterday watching "Miss Potter" while I sewed.....snowing outside....does it get any better than this?

Block for Victoria~

In my bloggy travels I found Victoria Findlay and her studio in NYC. She has a great blog and started video blogging which makes it that much more fun~great quilter~great artist~great blogger. She does ALOT of good charity work and puts the word out for donations now and again so I am finishing up a block to mail to her as requested for her friends quilt who is fighting cancer~

You have to stop by and meet her if you have a moment~you might even find yourself making your own fabric just because she showed you how.....

Marjorie Morningstar anyone?

Marjorie Morningstar by Herman Wouk.......and why am I involved with Marjorie when I am knee deep in The End of Your Life Book Club? well it seems the authors mother was greatly moved in her life after reading this book so off I went to read a "sample" on my Ipad and I find her just too good to leave just yet......this is a wonderful book set in the 1930's on the eve of great change for women...

So I have already spun out of my main book to read "Crossing to Safety" and now off I go with Marjorie~
I will be back to my main book soon unless the library sends a posse out to retrieve it~

Great sunlight today for applique~bouncing off the 24 inches of snow outside!

Isn't everyones TV on a TV? lol! A little Kevin Cosner to help my knee feel better while I sew~

Have you ever had to read a book before you read another?

I was very excited to hear from the library that my turn was up to read "The End of Your Life Book Club". As I began to read the first chapter (very good!) I quickly realized that the author and his mother were discussing a book , a VERY important book called "Crossing to Safety" by Wallace Stegner.

Well, I thought......should I continue on or should I read "Crossing To Safety" first.....

You guessed it~I borrowed "Crossing" and read it first~(it was written in 1987 thank goodness so it was at the library~)

"Crossing" is a terrific "book club" book because it is such an emotional read~not dramatic~not violent~not sexy~It's about human connection and emotion and lifes curve balls that we all experience.

And so today I can begin to read this first chapter with my eyes OPEN to the discussion between the author and his mother~

And a blizzard coming tomorrow~PERFECT.

A valentine "Fluff and Buff" for Millie~♥

Thank you Alma~

I am really loving this fabric collection for this project~ I lowered the ironing table to just above my knees (one good ~ one gettting better..) and I have room for EVERYTHING! Iced coffee (only in New England..)  telephone, remote, iron, pattern, fabric, pencil and freezer paper.

And look at this LUXURIOUS package of fabric that arrived yesterday.....I cannot stand it......patience 2013...
