The thread I use, Karen, is simply DMC floss from JoAnns Fabric shop~3 strands~I have it in all colors because it is S0 affordable and colorfast~I purchased and used a very beautiful hand dyed thread last month and when I used water to wash away the blue marking the dye ran all over my piece....I was so startled!! I should have known enough to check before I started but "lesson learned"
I really love this piece too. It is very inspiring, are you using flannel? You made me check into wool felt. I love penny rugs and have a lovely one for my computer/morning room. I found a wonderful websight - Winterberry Cabin - They have hand dyed woolens and patterns. I have chosen a cornucopia pattern and choosing a brighter version than is shown in the picture. I design my quilts and love putting fabrics together. Wish me luck on this first project! I will post a pic on Quilt Blog on my progress. With any luck I can try to achieve your beautiful blanket stitch!
